Battle of the Bulge 80th Anniversary

About the tour: Battle of the Bulge 80th Anniversary

Tour Introduction

The German Ardennes Offensive, known as The Battle of the Bulge, began with a massive assault on the American lines in December 1944. It would become one of the largest land battles ever fought by the Americans, stretching along an 80-mile front. Approximately one million men participated in this battle, including 500,000 Germans and 600,000 Americans, and casualties were high. A key factor of the battle, often mentioned by veterans who were there and depicted in films and TV series, was the weather. Visiting the Ardennes in the winter allows us to gain a glimpse into what it must have been like for those men fighting here in sub-zero temperatures, snow flurries, and with a lack of equipment. With this particular tour, not only will we be exploring areas of the battlefield, but we will also have the opportunity to visit living history displays and observe the commemorations for the 80th anniversary. This may be the last time that they are held in the presence of the Second World War veterans who were there. Join us on this 80th Anniversary tour as we attend the Battle Re-enactment at Manhay and visit the battlefields around Bastogne.
